Gary Dawson, of Australia, has over 30 years’ folk dance teaching experience across a wide range of traditions. His workshops promise to be energising and educational as well as social. Footage of Gary’s dancing can be found on YouTube. Gary will be offering a mixed programme on Saturday and Sunday morning featuring Croatian, Transylvanian and other, mainly Balkan, dances. He also will run a dance on Sunday night with our fabulous Wellington band Chilli Jam.
Kate Grace returns for a second year to our Wellington camp. Originally from France, Kate has had a lifelong exposure to the folk dances of Europe and Africa. Kate now lives in Dunedin, where she teaches French and Balkan dance and organises French bals. Kate will teach on Saturday afternoon, in preparation for a bal on Saturday night, again with live music. We invite the wider Wellington Francophile community to participate through partnership with the Alliance Francaise.
